We visited Poppy a little while back with our daughter during the school holidays, and I knew straightaway I had to write it up properly. It's part little shop, part creative atelier – and it's exactly the kind of low-key, hands-on space that's genuinely hard to find in Munich for kids.
Poppy is a concept store and creative atelier tucked into Schwabing-West – one half is a small shop with handmade pieces, the other is a proper workshop space where they run hands-on craft sessions throughout the month. During school holidays they sometimes open up creative sessions specifically for kids, which is what we caught. Even without a workshop booked, it's just a genuinely nice space to spend twenty minutes in on your own.
Poppy runs a rotating programme rather than a fixed weekly class, so it's worth checking their current listing before you plan around a specific date. Here's a snapshot of what's coming up as of this writing:
| Workshop | Price | Age |
|---|---|---|
| Terrazzo Tray (offered in English) | €49 | 8+ (adult supervision for ages 8–12) |
| Tufting | €89 | 18+ |
| Murano Glass Beads (offered in English) | €59 | Check current listing |
| Scrapbooking | €79 | Check current listing |
| Resin Pouring | €59 | 7+ (children with adult accompaniment) |
| Stamp & Watercolour Cards | €49 | Check current listing |
Most workshops run in small groups and include all materials, plus a snack and something to drink.
If a full workshop feels like too much of a commitment, Poppy Pause is the easier way in – an open, unstructured creative session where you show up, work on whatever you like, and stay as long as you want.
Worth bookmarking for an afternoon out, a birthday workshop, or just keeping an eye on their programme during the next school holidays – and if you do want to throw a party, have a look at our guide to hosting kids' birthday parties in Munich too.
