I write The Munich Fam – the guide I wish existed when I first moved here.
I started Munich Family when my daughter was about nine months old, because I was googling everything – places to go, what the city offers, what programmes were out there, what forms we needed to fill in, how to find a Kita.
Then I thought: if I'm researching this much anyway, why not share it with other parents in Munich? So I started this page, and I've stuck with it ever since. It's changed over the years – from mostly forms and logistics to now more recommendations for travel, hiking, and things we like doing – but the concept has stayed the same: I like to research, so why not help other people with that research too?
Everything here comes from real research, not content recycled from other blogs. Some of it's firsthand, from things we've done ourselves as a family. The rest gets the same care I'd want if I were the one googling it.
Playgrounds, festivals, indoor days, winter activities – the stuff that fills a weekend.
Cafés, restaurants and beer gardens that actually welcome kids.
Lakes, the Alps, and everywhere worth a drive from Munich.
Child care, courses, and the financial help nobody explains up front.
Have a brand and want to reach families in Munich?
